Prof. Laird Jackson

Prof. Laird Jackson was born in Seattle, Washington, October 10, 1930, received his B.A. from Pomona College in Claremont, Calif., and his M.D. in 1955 from the University of Cincinnati School of Medicine.

He is board certified in internal medicine and is a FACP member, a member of the organizing committee for the American Board of Medical Genetics, a past member and treasurer of ABMG (1980s), founding board of directors and treasurer for the American College of Medical Genetics (1991-97), certified in clinical genetics and clinical cytogenetics, ABMG and FACMG, and a founding member of the board of directors for the International Society of Prenatal Diagnosis (1992-1996).

Dr. Jackson is currently associate principal investigator of an NICHD-funded project to demonstrate the clinical application of microarray cytogenetics to prenatal cytogenetic diagnosis, as well as a small project to evaluate microfluidics approach to fetal cell separation from maternal blood sponsored by Parsortix corporation.

His interests are in prenatal genetic diagnosis, including development of non-invasive methodologies, microarray cytogenetics technology and genetic pathways in childhood developmental disorders.
